Taking over the world, one party at a time…

Hoppy Happy Easter Tea Party

EGGciting times ahead – Easter is just around the corner! And as I like any excuse to throw a party, whether it be a brunch, luncheon or just eating choccie Easter eggs with my friends, my daughter and I decided to host a pre-Easter tea party to celebrate… So, embrace the pastels and get yourself a pair of bunny ears, and throw a party for your family. Just look what fun we had! (It’s a real shame the cakes were not real – though, it certainly saved me from racking up the calories!).

In the Night Garden Birthday

A little bit of Upsy Daisy, Iggle piggle and a ride on the Ninky Nonk, made this party very special! This was by far one of my favorite parties which I have ever set up. Yes, ever! It was so magical.

My goal was to combine foods into the table feature, which could be edible -so I designed daisy cookies to be placed on grass pieces and grass-daisy cupcakes too. On top of that there were Iggle Piggle cake pops, which are always a hit with kiddies, and a super yummy carrot Upsy Daisy 2-tier birthday cake. I scattered colourful butterflies everywhere, making the feature truly girly and magical.

I love the combination of pinks, greens, blues, yellows, but also using a mix of chevron and polka dot patterns, the theme stayed funky. The grass pieces added the effect of a real garden, plus I used lots of flowers in jars for a floral feel. The table was not complete till I added the Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy Dolls and the Ninky Nonk train.

The kids all had a super time, because “Baby Sensory” were hired and set-up a series of games, dances and fun. Plus, all activities were centred around the Night Garden songs, characters and stories, which made the party even more magical for the little Birthday Girl.

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

Howdy and Hello! I haven’t updated my blog in quite a while, but that’s because I have been super busy designing and styling so many of your fun themed parties! Anyway, at last I found a moment to update my blog and add some photos.

Last weekend I set designed and set up a “Peppa Pig” polka dot themed party for a very special 3yr old lady, who loves watching Peppa Pig on TV. In order to get myself into the right Peppa Pig mind set, I watched quite a few episodes (yes!!! crazy me!) to research this theme. As a result I was able to not only have pig characters, I incorporated puddles, wellington boots, clouds and sunshine, flowers and lots of polka dots! At the same time, using a few infusions of pink and red, I was able to keep the theme nice and girly!

Check out these photos to get an idea of how magical the party looked:

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

The featured table had a funky red/white/pink striped backdrop, with clouds and a balloon “3″ attached, and I made a cute tutu for the birthday cake stand! Red polka dot and little rose bud fabrics were used to keep the look feminine yet fun and I added blue to keep the table from looking too busy.

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

A selection of star and flower shaped chicken sandwiches were displayed on trays, along with cheese on flag sticks, fruit on skewers, pink wellington boot cake pops with ribbons, chips in baking cups (easy for the young ones to eat), as well as pizza baguette bites and mince meat cartwheel pastries. Mmmh!

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

The children’s table was laid with a Peppa Pig tablecloth, pink plates and cups red spotty party hats and I put red/pink satin sashes on all the chairs, to add some magic to the look. The two party rooms were decorated with bright colored bunting and spotty balloons, with Peppa Pig characters dangling on strings.

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

My design work used a mix of orange and pink checkered fabric papers, blue spots and lots of the Peppa Pig characters. I knew I would be adding a lot of pink and red polka dots onto the table, so I tried to keep the party stationery a little less busy.

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

I set up a separate side table with popcorn and sweets. All the children arrived and were able to help themselves to popcorn using a little shovel. I think this was their favorite part of the birthday bash, as they felt so independent being able to keep going back to restock their popcorn boxes!

Peppa Pig Polka Dot Party

Viviane from http://www.cake-express.ch made an amazing birthday cake with matching cupcakes and cake pops! I sent her my designs, so she could copy them and keep the look of the party in line. She even made little rose buds out of fondant for the birthday cake, so it matches the table cloth. I was so impressed with that!

Oh and here is a photo of me… just after I had finished setting up the party.

This is me, Tala Daniela, from Perfect Packages!

It was so nice seeing all the kids having fun and really enjoying an event. They played pass-the-parcel, musical statues, sung various songs like “Old MacDonald” and “Ring around the roses” together, and they were happy just chasing each other and throwing balloons up in the air. Just look at all those happy faces? That’s what every party planner likes to see!

Autumn Aperitif

My husband and I are both October babies, and often have a small joint birthday celebration together with our close friends… In the past it has been mixed in with Halloween, but this year we wanted a simple soiree without a theme, just back-to-basics, inspired by the nature around us. Being the “Queen of Party Themes”, I was at first not sure how to execute such an event, but after a morning in the park with my daughter collecting acorns, conkers and leaves, I felt very much inspired and was ready to plan and decorate!

The evening itself was a “pop by for a glass of wine and a small bite to eat” event. Nothing too fancy. Certainly not a sit-down meal! We wanted it laid back and for people to say hi on their way back after work on a Friday. The menu was also kept simple – see below:

THE MENU:

  • Home made carrot & pumpkin soup
  • Fresh breads from the oven
  • Cheese platter of Brie & Cheddar
  • Tete-de-Moin Cheese Board Circle
  • Hummus & veggies to dip
  • Sliced figs (to compliment the cheeses)
  • Cheese & salt straws
  • White chocolate toblerone mousse
  • Pumpkin spiced cake pops with orange candy coating
  • White wines (from the region)

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and think I did a good job with keeping the table deco in theme with the nature around us.
Check out the photos yourself and see what you think….

M&M Rainbow Baby Shower

My best friend asked me to host a baby shower for her, but had no clue what kind of a theme she wanted. So after some looooong, hard thinking, I came up with the M&M idea. Why, I hear you ask?! Well, because we all refer to my friend and her husband as the “M&M’s” as their names both begin with M! Simple really :) Also, I knew I wanted to find a theme with lots and lots of color and no limits – so using all the rainbow M&M colors was simply perfect.

Some of my favorite aspects of this party include:

  • The M&M candy bar, which had a selection of limited edition M&M candies, all in little jars with colorful ribbons
  • Mini posters – “Keep Calm & Eat lots of M&M’s”
  • The fun, bright rainbow ribbon banner on the buffet table
  • “M&M Rainbow Water” bottles
  • Banner made up of baby towels with little M&M logos and characters printed on
  • “My MuM Rocks” t-shirt, which I printed myself using a spin on the M&M logo, using the word as “Mum” instead!
  • Little favor boxes where guests could fill them with M&M lip balms, nail polish and eye shadows
  • Red & blue sashes on the chairs with a green table cloth
  • Giant cupcake prints and rainbows pinned up throughout
  • M&M chocolate chip cookies… mmmmm!
  • Red rainbow M&M cake pops filled with lemon cake
  • Mini heart scones with jam and whipped cream
  • Home baked pastries
  • Swedish chocolate cake

(Un)fortunately this Baby Shower ended up as a Sip n See event instead, because the little man showed up one month early! That didn’t set up back in any way, it just meant we had him with us and he was our very own cute little M&M. So, although we didn’t have as many games as at a Baby Shower, we still managed to squeeze in a few and have a giggle! Each time someone won, we gave a gift to the Mummy, to make her feel special.

Baby Shower Games:

  • Whose poop is it anyway? – This game involves melting different chocolate bars and putting them inside diapers. The guest and Mummy have to them try the different “poops” and guess what chocolate it is…!
  • Sock Sorting – Each guest had to take turn to try and match as many baby socks as possible within 1 minute. There were “bonus socks” added which if matched together, could be kept. Even my 2yr old daughter played this game and we all had a real laugh!

Birthday {Bow Day} Beauty Bash

HELLO PRETTY – Birthday {Bow Day} Beauty Bash

For my 31st birthday I wanted to organise a party for my friends, so they could relax a bit and enjoy themselves. However as almost all my friends are currently pregnant or literally just had babies this month, I could not plan anything too crazy. So I decided to have a beauty bash at home and contacted a colleague who runs Mary Kay make up workshops. I then used a word play from “Hello Kitty” to a much more grown up “Hello Pretty” title for the party invitations. Everyone knows me for being a girlie-girl, who loves bows and polka dots, so I used this to create the atmosphere for the evening: A pink polka dot Birthday {Bow Day} Beauty Bash!

I wanted to set a classic, romantic atmosphere in my home for the party setting. I made a “Hello Pretty” banner, and used lots of black & pink lace doilies and different polka dotted paper to create the right look. My main buffet had a table cloth styled almost like a bow, with pearl heart shaped candles, and a mini “Bow Day” banner. I added roses and lots of mini bows all over, and used my own personal slogan of “I believe in Pink, Polka Dots, Bows & doing whatever it is that makes you Sparkle” on quite a few of the props. The table was layed out in pink, with flowers and butterflies flying out of the pots. When the Mary Kay representative arrived, she then added little mirrors, pens and skin-care cards to each place setting, to finish off the look.

We drank prosecco out of little vintage inspired bottles and pink polka dot straws, and I cooked chicken tacos for dinner, so everyone could help themselves. For dessert we ate mini coconut cake pops and had a pink polka dot birthday cake, which even had polka dots inside once you cut into it! It certainly surprised my friends.

Throughout the evening, we pampered ourselves using Mary Kay products: Brenda guided us through how to properly look after our skin and hands and we had a make up workshop, after which, everyone looked totally transformed! (We had a few ladies who were adamant not to remove their make up, but they soon warmed up and looked a million dollars with their “new looks”).

When my guests left, they were given little pink polka dot boxes filled with Swiss Cailleur pralines, each got a t-shirt (some with “Yummy Mummy” slogans), a decorated Coke Zero bottle, a pink vanilla bow-shaped lollipop, a selection of “Hello Pretty” pink chocolates and a little black note book for all their secrets & beauty tips…
